James Walker

Senior Landscape Architect

James is a passionate landscape architect with a keen interest in how we can better integrate green infrastructure into our cities and create distinct places people want to be. He is interested in how a response to site conditions and the history of place can be developed to benefit a community, the environment and explore a new urban nature. He has over 8 years’ experience of working in landscape architecture practices in both the UK and Netherlands.

His professional experience spans from working on large scale masterplan visions through to detailed design and temporary landscape interventions. Notably, James’s time at Townshend Landscape Architects allowed him to develop particular expertise in working on large-scale urban regeneration masterplans. The Canada Water Masterplan, a 53 Acre site, makes up one of the largest mixed use regeneration projects in London and will create a new high street, six new public spaces and 16 new streets and lanes. James also worked on Wilton Park an office development in Dublin including the regeneration of a historic park and an extensive rooftop garden.

James joined the practice in 2022 where he has become a key team member in two projects: Typhoo Wharf and East Village. Typhoo Wharf is a mixed-used public realm masterplan project located in Digbeth, Birmingham which includes the transformation of the former Typhoo Tea factory into the new home of BBC Birmingham. East Village is a neighbourhood located in East London’s, former Olympic Athletes Village that will create a new area for student accommodation and homes alongside a public park and series of public realm spaces.
